Time
We give fermentation, proofing, and baking the time they need rather than rushing the process.
Behind the bread
We started Hearth & Crumb with a simple idea: make good bread the old-fashioned way and create a place where people feel welcome.
Where it began
Hearth & Crumb began in a small kitchen with a jar of sourdough starter and a fascination with what flour, water, salt, and time could create.
What began as weekend baking slowly became a bakery built around the same principles: honest ingredients, careful technique, and enough time for every loaf to become what it should be.
Today, we still work in small batches and keep our approach deliberately simple.
What matters to us
We give fermentation, proofing, and baking the time they need rather than rushing the process.
We choose familiar ingredients carefully and let their natural character remain visible.
We believe repetition, patience, and attentive hands are what turn a recipe into a craft.
A bakery should be part of its neighborhood, not simply a place to buy something.
Our process
We bring together simple ingredients and let the dough begin its transformation.
Fermentation develops flavor, texture, and character over time.
Each loaf and pastry is shaped by hand with care and attention.
The oven brings everything together with heat, patience, and a little bit of instinct.
Come say hello
Visit the bakery, smell what is coming out of the oven, and take a loaf home for later.
